Sometimes I do drawings like this on paper, where the object is to start with one drawing, in this case a leaf, and build off of that, where a part of the previous drawing becomes part of something else. For example, the lady's lips become an outline for the bird's head and the bird's wing becomes a hand holding a tulip with a cat's face.
